Blue Cats
One of the few paintings I still own. Painted at the Squatter’s C raft art and Craft Gallery on Bribie Island which I managed for a year. Back then Bribie Island was popular at holiday times when people could park on the beaches and set up camp, so a place that had art and crafts and served Devonshire teas was popular, especially as we had demonstrations of pottery making and painting. I painted this in front of a crowd of onlookers and sold another version for $400 which was a lot of money then. The venue offered pottery from all over the area when pottery meant something, no cheap imports then and houses were still relatively simple. It provided an income for many but it also nearly killed me to operate, ask any person trying to run a small business on their own.
