Ron Aitken (letter, TB 5/9/94) It has been reported that the Pacific Festival parade was down on numbers and support. Is there any wonder when the public are asked to applaud another spectacle of gays and lesbians promoting their wares. How dare they involve young children in their promotions? Yes, innocent youth were gaily waving from the back of the truck float, while being biologically and emotionally unable to understand they were being coerced. How dare those responsible for children’s welfare allow such a manipulation of their wellbeing? I have been a keen promoter of anything Townsville all my life but like many others, the future Pacific Festival parade is now a no-no — until it is cleaned up.
