All the Gardens I have built
‘My backyard garden is like the rest of my living rooms—organised chaos. Regardless, I notice when something is absent, when something has altered, when something is deprived, and when something is being interfered with. It is a place of great joy and every garden I have ever built—and I have made many—becomes a part of every garden I paint. Landscapes are gardens on bigger scales; painting and gardening need us to use our hands—pigments are a type of earth after all.’
